Advice and tips on buying and selling between private individuals

Covid-19: Secure transactions between private individuals with Obvy

The current health crisis calls for some adjustments to the way we buy and sell between private individuals. Follow these tips to protect yourself.

With Obvy, you can buy and sell between private individuals without any contact and with complete protection.

Hand-delivered transactions between private individuals

If you're carrying out a transaction that involves buyers and sellers meeting, Obvy allows you to do so without any contact whatsoever and with very little need to handle documents, money, etc.

Before the match

If you are the buyer, remember to take with you a bag / shopping bag / packaging in which the seller can dispose of the item you are buying.

Meeting, handover and payment

Wear a mask and keep a distance of 1 metre between you.

Ideally, the buyer should place the open packaging he has brought with him on a sound surface and then take a few steps back. The seller can then place the goods in the packaging without touching them.

For payment, to avoid any reconciliation, prefer to use the encrypted code rather than scanning the QR CODE.

The seller dictates the 6-digit payment code they have on Obvy to the buyer, who can then enter it directly into the application and proceed with the payment.

The transaction was perfectly secure and contactless.

On returning home

Buyers are advised to leave their purchases unpackaged in a corner for a few hours to a few days, without handling them. They can also, taking the necessary precautions, disinfect the item purchased with the appropriate products and then wash their hands.

Transactions between private individuals by delivery

If you carry out a transaction remotely, with Obvy you avoid the need to meet anyone. However, a few good practices apply.

When the parcel is delivered

It is recommended that the seller wears a mask when going to the relay point to which he drops off the parcel. Remember to keep a safe distance of at least 1 metre when moving around, just as you would in shops.

On receipt of the parcel

To collect your parcel, we recommend that you wear a mask and carry a bag / shopping bag / packaging in which the shopkeeper can place the parcel. Place the open packaging on a clean surface and take a few steps backwards so that the shop assistant can place the parcel on it.

On returning home

Once again, we recommend that you leave your purchase unpacked in a corner for a few hours to a few days, without handling it. This period varies depending on the surface and material.

Since the virus lasts no longer than 24 hours on cardboard (source: The New England Journal of Medicine, 17 March 2020), it is advisable to wait a full day before unpacking the parcel and enjoying your purchase. You can also disinfect the item with appropriate products and wash your hands.

Do good business and stay healthy

Exceptional situations call for exceptional measures. Take advantage of these opportunities, but protect yourself and join the collective effort to eradicate this virus.
