Advice and tips on buying and selling between private individuals

How can you spot a fake Fendi Peekaboo bag?

Shown to the public at the Autumn/Winter 2009 fashion show, the "Peekaboo" bag is one of the most emblematic bags from the Italian brand Fendi. Structured and elegant, this bag is available in a wide variety of colours and materials. The bag has been worn by some of the world's biggest fashion icons, including Rihanna and Victoria Beckham. But the bag's success hasn't kept counterfeiters away. They are constantly replicating this iconic Fendi model and selling counterfeits on second-hand platforms and outside official shops. That's why, in this article, we give you a real guide on how to spot a genuine Fendi Peekaboo bag from a fake.

The lock :

First of all, pay particular attention to the lock on your Peekaboo bag from the luxury house of Fendi. It tells you a lot about the bag's authenticity.

The dimensions of the lock on a real bag differ from those on a fake. Replica bags are too small and too narrow. The metal used is also not the same. The metal used by Fendi is much duller than that used by counterfeiters, which is smoother.

The "Fendi" inscription on the lock also deserves your full attention. Fraudsters are unable to copy the luxury brand's font perfectly. The letters on counterfeit locks are smaller and thicker.

The buttons :

Let's move on to an analysis of the Fendi buttons that dot the luxury bag. The original button is rounder and more dimensional than a fake Fendi button. The brand's letters are also thicker and more deeply embedded in the metal than they should be.

You should also look at the seams around the buttons on the luxury bag. The seams should be thick, symmetrical and far apart. This is often not the case with bags from counterfeit factories.

The key ring :

You should also pay particular attention to the key ring on the Fendi Peekaboo bag. This is the difference between a real bag and a fake one. The key ring should be thick, wide and slightly round. This is not the case with replica bags, which are more oval and narrower.

The 'Fendi' inscription on the key ring is also interesting to note. On counterfeits, the letters of the inscription are almost impossible to read, whereas they are beautifully engraved on real Fendi bags.

The metal label :

The final point to focus on is the metal label inside the Fendi bag. The luxury brand's label has a much more vintage and slightly faded look.

On counterfeit bags, this label does not have this appearance; it is much more reflective and smooth. The layout of the lettering is also different.
