Advice and tips on buying and selling between private individuals

How can you spot a fake Palm Angels tracksuit?

Palm Angels is one of the best-known brands in streetwear. This American brand owes its success to the emergence of social networks and influence, with world-famous stars being the first to wear the brand's clothes. Palm Angels offers a wide range of clothing: T-shirts, suits, jackets, college jackets, polo shirts, leggings, sweatshirts and much more. Worn by some of the biggest rappers, tracksuits are one of the brand's most popular products. Unfortunately, scammers are taking advantage of Palm Angels' notoriety to replicate their most iconic garments. If you're buying your tracksuit second-hand, here are a few tips to help you spot a real Palm Angels tracksuit from a fake one.

Chest logo :

First of all, pay attention to the logo on the chest of your tracksuit. The American brand's logo is unique and has a multitude of small details, making it difficult to counterfeit.

Replica factories do not reproduce the logo as it should be. Replica logos are much thicker than the authentic Palm Angels tracksuit logo. Also check the spacing between the letters in the logo. These spaces should be tight, the letters should be close together. Look specifically at the space between the 'p' and 'a' in 'Palm' and the 'a' and 'n' in 'Angels'. It is between these letters that the space is generally the least respected.

As well as being too thick, the counterfeiters don't copy the cuts in the logo properly. This lack of rigour can be seen in several places. Between the letters "g" and "e", the small indentation in the "e" is not as long on a counterfeit as it is on a genuine jacket.

The washing label :

Pay particular attention to the washing label. It contains a wealth of information to help you decide whether it's a real tracksuit jacket or not.

Firstly, the wording "Palm Angels" must appear at the very top of the label. This inscription is often poorly positioned and placed lower down on counterfeit garments. As well as being badly positioned, the text on the fake jacket is often too small and too thick.

Also check that the label says 100% polyester. Some replica factories make mistakes and indicate that a part is made of cotton. If you see this type of indication, you can be sure that you are looking at a replica.

Also look at the spacing between the letters. These must be perfectly identical.

Collar label :

Check the neck label carefully. The main problem with this label is that it is generally too thin on counterfeits.

The label must also be correctly stretched over the collar and sewn to it. It is not uncommon to see counterfeit labels that are not sewn on properly. PA labels are attached to the garment by two large black seams on either side of the top of the label. Counterfeit factories regularly sew these labels in the wrong way, with uneven stitches or in the wrong place.
