Advice and tips on buying and selling between private individuals

Nike Technical Fleece: How to Recognize a Counterfeit?

Nike, a leader in the sports equipment market, offers collections of sports shoes and sports equipment. The brand has made a name for itself through some of the best-known models. The Air Max, Nike Air VaportMax and Nike Performance Air have written the history of the brand and its trendy sports collections. However, its range of sportswear has also captured the hearts of many. The Nike technical fleece has been a growing success for years, and this has not escaped the attention of counterfeiters, who are constantly reproducing imitations of these products. Unfortunately, such popularity has led to many counterfeits. If you're buying one outside an official shop, here are a few tips to help you identify whether it's a genuine Nike Technical fleece or a replica.

Neck label

The first thing to pay attention to is the neck label. This is a good clue to the authenticity of your garment.

Take a closer look at the seams on the neck label. Nike is known for its excellent quality control, so the seams must be perfect, i.e. clean and neat. Replica factories don't have the same expertise as the Nike brand and don't take the same care with their garments. The seams on a counterfeit collar label are much wider, and differ from one another in size and shape.

Also check the material used for the label. The material used by the brand is robust. It is also dense and not transparent. Counterfeiters, on the other hand, use an inexpensive, much thinner material to make a profit.

The Nike inscription must be written on the neck label. The label must be black and the wording always white. There must be two lines between which must be the size (XS, S, M, L, etc.) and not numbers.

The washing label

The last point you need to analyse concerns the washing label. This label is often overlooked by counterfeiters because it is not very visible, which makes it very interesting to observe.

Look carefully at the threading on the label. It should be thick and even. This is not usually the case with replicas, which have a much finer thread.

Also pay attention to the logo.

The logo

Also look out for the brand logo on the chest, which says a lot about the authenticity of your jumper.

The Nike logo is simple but requires a certain amount of expertise. It consists of the brand name, written in bold capitals. The letters are mostly glued together and all the same size. Just below this is the comma so popular with brand regulars. This is thicker at the beginning and extremely thin at the end. The last part of this comma is glued to the last bar of the E. These details are extremely precise, but guarantee the authenticity of your product.

Replica factories tend to shorten the comma and make it thicker at the beginning.

This is what your authentic fleece logo should look like.

Seams and fastenings

Take a close look at your Nike garment. The brand has recognised expertise, so if you find any irregularities or asymmetries in the seams, you're probably looking at a replica.

You can also check that the zips are in the right place.

The main zip should be in the middle of the fleece. But a second should be on the left arm. The end of the zip is a cord. If the zipper is on the right arm or is missing, check the authenticity of your product.
