Dior down jacket: 5 tips for spotting fakes
The new trend of logomania is driving many people to own branded goods. Scammers are taking advantage of this trend to make money off the backs of the less vigilant by putting counterfeit branded goods on sale, often at prices close to those of genuine products.
This winter, it was Dior's slanted down jacket that caused a sensation on social networks. Both elegant and casual, it caught everyone's attention - and not just everyone's. Available in a range of colours and cuts, this down jacket has the advantage of enhancing any outfit. However, it costs no less than €2,200 to buy. Dior's official website is often out of stock, so you'll have to make do with private sales to acquire the coveted luxury down jacket.
Here are 5 tips to help you spot fake Dior down jackets.
1. The shape and materials of the Dior down jacket
First, let's look at the overall appearance of your Dior down jacket. You'll notice that an authentic down jacket is much puffier than a fake Dior down jacket. This is because counterfeiters don't think to put enough cotton underneath the outer material, which makes it quite thin and light. If it's too soft, light and small, it's a fake down jacket. If, on the other hand, the collar is solid and large enough, it's a real Dior down jacket.

2. Printing methods
Next, consider how your Dior down jacket is printed. It's this detail that gives the item its coveted look. On fake Dior down jackets, the printed text is a little thin.
Also, on a Dior down jacket, the print is slightly glossier than the matt background on which it is printed. But on the fake Dior down jackets, the difference is far too great, and the text is too shiny, giving a cheap effect. The colours blend much less well with the background colour.

3. Dior labels
The Dior beacon
Now let's look at the Dior label on the inside of your down jacket. On a fake Dior down jacket, the letters on this label seem to be badly weighted, they look too long and too narrow. The text on the real Dior down jacket looks thicker and wider.

The Dior patch
Let's move on to the Dior patch on the outside of your down jacket. Once again, there's a difference in the Dior text. This time, it looks too thick on the fake luxury down jacket. The spacing between the letters is smaller than on real Dior down jackets.
Also, on a fake Dior down jacket, the outline of the patch looks sloppier than on an original Dior down jacket.

4. The zip with the Dior logo
Next, the zip with the Dior logo. It's little details like this that are the best way to spot fakes, so they're not to be overlooked.
Once again, it's the "DIOR" text that's the problem. The letters look too big and bold on the fake Dior down jacket, and are engraved with the wrong font weight.
Look at the quality of this fastening too - it doesn't look as good as a genuine Dior down jacket.

5. Dior buttons
The last trick in checking the authenticity of your Dior down jacket is the buttons. As you will have noticed, at Dior every detail counts. Take a close look at the buttons on your luxury down jacket. All buttons have curved markings around them. First check that they exist and then check their quality, if there are engraving errors, spelling mistakes, anything can happen on counterfeit Dior down jackets.
