Nike Air Max Plus TN: 5 tips for spotting fakes
Launched in 1998, the Nike Air Max Plus is still a highly successful shoe. It continues to produce a string of highly original collaborations and limited editions. The Nike Air Max Plus Supreme White is one of the most memorable collaborations of recent years. Nicknamed the "shark" or "Air Max Tn", here are 5 tips for spotting Nike Air Max Plus TN counterfeits, using the Air Max Plus Tuned 1 model as an example.
1 - The logo
The logo on Air Max Plus Tuned 1s is made up of the comma, the swoosh, the text "AIR", and a box that takes up all the space dedicated to the logo on the front of the shoe, on the tongue. Make sure you pay close attention to all these details. On fake pairs of Air Max Tn, the logo doesn't always take up all the space reserved for it, and when it does it's a counterfeit. You should also look at the stitching around the logo and the size of the logo - on fake Tn requins, it tends to bulge out.
2 - Reflective strips
The Air Max Plus is recognisable thanks to its innovative and original design, its lateral undulations, its legendary "Tuned" Air cushioning and its reflective stripes. On fake Air Max Plus Tn shoes, the reflective stripes are not properly aligned like on genuine Air Max Plus Tuned 1 shoes.
3 - Tuned Air cushioning
Let's move on to the Tuned Air cushioning that gave this pair of Nike shoes their Air Max TN nickname. Compare the condition of your air bubbles with images on official retailer websites. They're generally smaller on fake Air Max TNs and obviously not as good quality as real Nike Air Max TNs. Also check that the air bubbles are completely identical.
4 - The seams of your Air Max Tn
Look at the stitching all over your pair of Nike Air Max Plus. On authentic Tn shoes, the seams are perfectly executed and perfectly symmetrical, which is far from the case for fake Nike Air Max Plus.
5 - Other details
The smell
If you have a fake Nike Air Max Plus Tn in your hands, you'll be able to tell by the smell. Counterfeit Tn "sharks" have a strong smell of cheap plastic.
Wavy lines
Very often, the "waves" on fake Air Max Tn are reproduced in the wrong direction and/or are of very poor quality.
