Prada Monolith boots: 5 tips for spotting fakes

Trendy, practical and comfortable, brands have realised this in recent years, and utility boots are the talk of the town. Prada has also embraced the trend, presenting its 'Monolith' pair of boots at Milan Fashion Week in February 2020. This pair of boots is considered a work of art in its own right. Selling for €1,300 on their official website, the price tag can make heads spin and the urge to turn to the second-hand market may then arise; Only, where there's a popular product there's a counterfeit. In this article, we'll be revealing our tips for easily spotting a counterfeit Prada Boots.

1/ "PRADA" text on your boots

Let's move on to the serial number located on the text of the inner tongue of the pair of luxury boots. It is not uncommon to find that some counterfeit boots do not have serial numbers - counterfeiters regularly forget this detail.

Also check the quality of the text. It should not be too large or too fine. Underneath the sequence of numbers should be the words "Made in Italy". This inscription is perfectly legible on authentic Prada boots. If this is not the case, if the lettering is too thick, you are most likely in possession of a fake pair of Prada Monolith boots.

2/ The serial number

Next, let's look at the serial number located in the text on the inside tongue of your real pair of Prada Monolith boots. Some counterfeits have no serial number at all. Check the quality of the text, which may be too large or too small, and compare it with the images below. Below this sequence of numbers, you should find the text "Made in Italy", which should be perfectly legible. If it's not, or if it's too thick, you're looking at a fake pair of Prada Monolith boots.

3/ The insole

Let's move on to the insole of your pair of luxury boots. The insole is made from more or less the same materials as the outside. It's made from good quality leather and will last for years. This is quite the opposite for replica Prada boots, whose soles are made from cheap leather that wears out very quickly.

Then check the "PRADA" text, the quality of the text, whether it's easy to read or not, the quality of the printing... these are details that can quickly tip you off. Finally, inspect the stitching on the sole: on real Prada Monolith boots, it's short and quite thick, whereas on fake Prada boots, it's too big and too thin.

4/ Badges

The badge inside

To recognise counterfeit Prada boots, you need to look at the badges. We're going to focus on the badge inside the pockets of your pair of luxury boots. Check the quality of the inscription. It should read: "PRADA" followed by "Milano".

The badge on the pocket

Next, take a look at the badge on the pocket of your pair of Prada Monolith boots. This time it's in the shape of a triangle and, as well as the name of the luxury brand and the text 'Milano', there's also the date on which it was founded - 1913. First check that all this information is present and correct. Then look at the font, the size of the badge, the quality of the printing, the colour and all the other small details that surround it.

5/ The outsole

The final tip to find out whether or not you're in possession of a genuine pair of Prada Monolith boots is to look at the outsole of your pair of shoes. First, look at the logo and compare it with the images below. It should be perfectly engraved, not too deep in the sole and not too thick.

Then look at the texture of the sole. Authentic pairs of Prada boots have a rather grainy sole compared to fake Prada boots, so they're smoother than they should be.
