How to spot a fake Supreme x The North Face jacket

If you're looking to buy or already own a Supreme x The North face Mountain jacket, but don't know if it's authentic, don't worry! Today, we're going to teach you how to identify if that parka you might be about to buy is a fake. You need to be wary of Internet retailers (particularly on classified ad sites) who take advantage of the rarity of this jacket. Some take advantage of the rarity of this jacket, trying to imitate it as closely as possible and then reselling it at a lower price. But in the euphoria of having finally found it cheaper, you fall for it. We're here to help you solve the problem! Follow our detailed guide to spot a fake Supreme x TNF Baltoro Mountain jacket in just a few steps.

The print motif on the front

To begin our investigation, let's first look at the front of the parka, in particular the mountain print.

  • As you can see from the following comparison of the faux jacket and the real Supreme x TNF Mountain Baltoro, the mountain print looks less colourful on the faux jacket. This is particularly noticeable when you look at the shadows, as they appear paler and less saturated. This makes the print itself look duller and washed out.

  • Secondly, the fake Supreme x TNF Mountain jacket has an inferior print quality. You can see how the authentic lines are sharper and more distinct, and the print itself looks more detailed. This is because the image is printed at a higher resolution.

  • Finally, the Supreme x TNF counterfeit has an extra mountain peak appearing in the middle of the print. This is a defect that doesn't usually occur in genuine jackets.

Neck label

Another point that can help you check the authenticity of a Supreme x The North Face Mountain Baltoro parka is the neck label. To help you understand, take a look at the replica in the photos below, which has its "made in China" text larger than necessary and set much lower.

  • Next you need to check the very first line of text. The fake jacket has the text "THE" which looks too thick and boxy compared to the same print on the authentic Supreme x TNF jacket.

  • You can then notice how the 'NOTH' text in the fake Supreme x TNF vs real image above is again too thick on the fake jacket. This is most noticeable on the letter "O".

  • Also look out for the fake trademark symbol (R) on the fake Supreme x TNF jacket, which is too big and thick compared to the one on the genuine jacket.

  • Finally, look at the letter 'S' in the text 'supreme'. If you take a look at the image of the fake Supreme x TNF jacket, you'll notice that the letter 'S' is once again too thick. Whereas the authentic jacket has this letter thinner.

THE NORTH FACE" logo on the label

Here, it's not hard to see that the letters on the fake label are inconsistent in shape and spacing. The font is too thick, especially the word "FACE". The letter "C" is too thick at the bottom and the letter "A" is also bolder than necessary. The letter "R" in "NORTH" is incorrectly shaped.

Secondly, the stitching pattern is also incorrect. You can easily spot the difference on the quarter-circle part of the logo. The authentic one has denser seams and the stitches are smaller. Then, looking at the narrow blank lines between the The North Face igloo logo, we've highlighted in the image of the authentic jacket below how the counterfeit has its blank lines too thin and narrow.

The final flaw in the Supreme The North Face Mountain Baltoro faux parka is that the spacing between the letters is smaller in some places and larger in others. All spacing should be consistent and equal in size.

The "Supreme" logo on the label

Let's take a closer look at the red Supreme label on the underside of the parka. First, let's look at the label on the Supreme x TNF Mountain jacket. The label itself is significantly thinner in size. Not only that, but the text is placed too far to the right. Whereas the authentic jacket has its text placed right in the middle of the label.

Now let's look at the font of the Supreme logo on the jacket reproduced by the counterfeiters. One flaw to note here is that the letters are placed too far apart. Their shape is also slightly blurred, particularly the letter 'r', which makes the logo blurred and less legible. You can see that the text is different to that used on the authentic jacket and appears thinner.

The holographic label

Another important element to check is the holographic tag found on the label, which is used to make the authentic element more difficult to reproduce. This is because they cannot be scanned and reproduced like ordinary paper labels and require more expensive printers to produce. So by checking your holographic label, you can easily see if it's a counterfeit.

In the example below, you can see that the replica Supreme x The North Face Mountain Baltoro jacket does not include the holographic tag at all. If you notice that this tag is missing, you can immediately be sure that this is not an authentic jacket.
