Advice and tips on buying and selling between private individuals

How can you spot fake Hermès "sneakers day"?

Through legendary pieces such as the carré de soie and the Kelly bag, Hermès has become a key player in the world of luxury. Combining expertise, elegance and excellence, Hermès has a unique style. This uniqueness is reflected in the multitude of collections the brand has created over the years. From leather goods to silk, from fashion to watches, Hermès has become a benchmark for refinement and elegance over nearly two centuries. In particular, the luxury brand has created a whole collection of sneakers, including the 'sneakers day' model. The success of this pair of trainers has attracted counterfeiters, who have been quick to create replicas of these shoes with the sole aim of making a profit. However, there are tricks you can use to spot the real sneakers from the fakes, because the know-how of a luxury house is not as good as the robots of a counterfeit factory.

The outsole :

First of all, pay special attention to the outsole of your pair of Hermès trainers. The difference in quality of the pattern, colour and logo is clearly visible between a real pair of "day" trainers and a fake one.

The original sole is of excellent quality, with a symmetrical pattern and embossed logo that make the pair unique. Because of the different materials used, counterfeit soles look "cheap" and have a different pattern with much clearer "H" symbols.

Also check the "HERMES" inscription in the centre of the sole of the shoe. The logo is perfectly engraved into the sole, with the letters of the luxury brand in relief. On counterfeits, the logo is not as deep and the letters are much thicker.

The heel of the trainer:

You should also take a close look at the heel of your pair of luxury trainers. Hermès is extremely fussy about detail and the quality of its materials. These brand values are reflected in every part of the shoe, especially the heel.

Check that your shoe has a dotted pattern. This pattern allows the foot to ventilate and breathe better. The seams should be equally tight and symmetrical. Some replica factories don't bother to recreate this dotted pattern.

The 'HERMES' inscription on the back of the heel also says a lot. It is more deeply engraved and thicker on an authentic pair of day sneakers than on a counterfeit pair.

The midsole :

Also pay attention to the midsole of the pair of trainers, and more specifically to the front of the shoe.

The details on this part of the sole are very interesting to analyse. Parts of the pattern must be engraved. Many counterfeiters make the mistake of embossing them. There is then no doubt that the pair is not authentic.

Authentic engraved elements are generally rounder than replicas where the motif is more box-shaped. Also look at the stitching on this part of the shoe. Swindlers don't place the sole in the right place. It is often lower than it should be.

Carnations :

Check the eyelets on your Day d'Hermès trainer carefully. The eyelets on a genuine trainer are perfectly round. Hermès places great importance on these small details. If you see the slightest flaw in the shape of these eyelets, you are most likely dealing with a counterfeit.

If you buy your day trainers in white, check that the eyelet outlines are white too. Replica factories make darker eyelets with a dark outline, giving them a cheap look.
