How to spot a fake Jacquemus "Chiquito" bag?
Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, Dua Lipa... all today's biggest fashion icons are wearing it. This small luxury bag by Simon Porte Jacquemus, available in a range of colours, has quickly become a 'hit-bag'. Its size and elegance made it a real eye-catcher from the moment it was launched in 2020. However, it also appealed to counterfeiters who rushed to create replicas of the bag to make a profit. If you buy it outside an official shop, here are five tips to help you recognise whether it's a real Chiquito or a fake.

Size too big :
The first thing to look out for is the size of the Chiquito bag. Look at the sizes of your Chiquito model on the brand's official website and check that they correlate with the size of your bag. Counterfeiters tend to make bags with larger dimensions, which gives the replicas away.
Tightened handles:
Pay close attention to the handles on your Chiquito bag. They reflect the quality of your bag and are an integral part of its design. The handle attachments on authentic bags are wider and more clearly sewn than those on replicas. They should be proportionate to the body of the bag and positioned close to the seam of the flap.
Counterfeiters will come up with a much narrower handle, accompanied by dubious stitching.

The sides of the bag :
Let's move on to the sides of the bag. The buckle that attaches the shoulder strap is a major difference. The replica factories can't match the metal used by the brand. The authentic piece is slightly wider and a bright gold colour, while the fake is rounder and paler.
This loop must also fit perfectly into its slot, touching both ends of the side.

Shiny fittings :
The Chiquito bag by Jacquemus is a practical fashion accessory. Its hardware makes it hard-wearing and gives it a unique look.
The quality of the hardware is one of the main differences between a genuine Jacquemus bag and an imitation. Fake hardware lacks mobility and is thin and shiny. The fonts of the 'Jacquemus' inscription are also different, thicker in the case of replicas.

Inside label :
One way to spot a counterfeit Jacquemus Chiquito is to look at the label on the inside of the bag.
On an authentic Jacquemus label, the letters are thick and wide, making them easy to read. The replica label will often be textured, rather than smooth, and the letters will be tiny, making them difficult to read.
Don't hesitate to inspect the seams too. Uneven seams or loose threads are signs of a fake product.
