On the famous classified ads website Leboncoin, a man recognised the two bikes that had been stolen from his home near Bourg-en-Bresse a few days earlier.

He's decided to trap sellers

A resident of the Bourg-en-Bresse conurbation came across two unfamiliar products while surfing the website for transactions between private individuals. It was an advert for two second-hand bicycles for sale. The big problem here was that these were the young man's two bikes, which had been stolen from his home a few days earlier during a burglary.

Without missing a beat, our victim hurried to contact the advertisers. He showed an interest in the properties for sale and, after a few exchanges with the sellers, managed to arrange an appointment to hand over the goods in person. By coordinating with the police, he was able to arrest the scammers, two minors aged 15 and 17.

This wasn't the first time these crooks had pulled a stunt

Following a successful investigation by the police, one of the young men arrested was released. As for the second, he admitted his involvement in the burglary of our victim, and also admitted stealing diving equipment. 24 hours later, his accomplice, also aged 17, was identified and arrested.

The latter is suspected of having broken into another house, allegedly smashing a garden shed and stealing various tools, including a lawnmower that was found abandoned. These two minors will be subject to a penal reparation measure.
