She buys a PS5 but receives two bottles of water
Since its release in November 2020, Sony's new home console, the Playstation 5, has always been at the heart of scams. This time, it was a woman who was the victim. Thinking she'd stumbled across a bargain on a classified ad site, she ended up paying almost €500 for two bottles of water.
A golden opportunity
With official console retailers hard to find, many gamers are turning to peer-to-peer trading platforms to finally get their hands on the much sought-after PS5. But when venturing onto these platforms, you need to be careful.
This woman, who lives in Japan, was one of the victims of the many scams that take place every day on classified ad websites. Thinking she had stumbled across a golden bargain, a PS5 for 65,000 yen, or almost €500, the young woman quickly contacted the seller to show her interest in the advert.

After a few exchanges with the saleswoman, our victim paid her the amount requested. A few days later, the buyer finally received her order. When she discovered her parcel, she was shocked to see not a PS5 but two bottles of water.
Naturally, the buyer was quick to contact the sales assistant to express her dissatisfaction. Despite numerous calls, she never received a reply. The young woman therefore decided to go to the police.
