Bose headphones: how can you spot a counterfeit?
Almost 60 years after its creation, Bose has become a benchmark in the music and sound market. Headphones from the famous brand are among the best-selling products. They are made from hard-wearing, comfortable materials for optimum listening. For several years now, Bose has been developing noise-reducing headphones for extra listening comfort. Unfortunately, the success of these headphones has attracted crooks who have been quick to reproduce these products. However, the brand's expertise is not matched by the factories of the counterfeiters. In this article, we present our advice on how to recognise genuine Bose headphones from counterfeit products.
Serial number :
First of all, please pay particular attention to the serial number of your Bose headphones. It contains information that can tell you a lot about the authenticity of the hearing aid.
This must be made up of a sequence of six digits, then a letter followed by eight digits and two letters. Look carefully at the four numbers after the first letter. These four numbers should represent the month and day of the year.
If the last three digits are a number greater than 365, you may have doubts about the authenticity of the product, as there are only 365 days in a year. You can also visit the Bose website to check the serial number. Be careful, though, as some counterfeiters have fun copying real serial numbers.
The sides of the helmet :
Also check the sides of your Bose headphones, in particular the letters "R" and "L" indicating which way the headphones should be positioned.
It is not uncommon to find that products from replica factories neglect these details. On counterfeit helmets, the letters are rough and unpleasant to the touch. On the other hand, on authentic models, the letters are smooth, defined and sharp.
Some counterfeit products do not have these letters on the helmets. If this is the case, you can immediately confirm that it is a counterfeit product.
Accessories :
Let's move on to the accessories available with the headset. In the headphone box you'll find the warranty and a user manual. Authentic Bose products are shipped with these two items.
It's also worth taking a closer look at the user manual. Known for not having a perfect command of the language of Molière, it is not uncommon to find that crooks make spelling or typing errors in the manual.
If this is the case with your user manual, there's a good chance you're dealing with a counterfeit.
Also check that the cords supplied with the helmet are the right length. Counterfeit factories often make them too short.

The Bose logo :
Last but not least is the brand logo on the side of the helmet. This is another indication of its authenticity.
The brand logo must be embossed and have completely clear lettering. On replica helmets, the logo is sometimes simply a sticker or spray-painted. The letters are also poorly formed.
