Scammed on Leboncoin: He sold it for €18,000!
It had always been his dream: to travel the roads in his motorhome. Brice had been saving for years, and now he was ready to make his dream come true. But his con man decided otherwise...
On the face of it, it was a tempting offer
Our victim thought he'd found the perfect motorhome. But no! Brice had actually been scammed. The ad had been placed by a professional (or so he claimed) on a specialised classified ad site. It said: for sale, a motorhome in very good condition, for the modest sum of €18,400 (in normal circumstances, you'd have to pay around €28,000 on average for an entry-level motorhome).
Beautiful from afar but far from beautiful
After responding to the advert and arranging a meeting, Brice was able to collect his property. But the very next day, when he decided to clean his new vehicle, he was in for a shock. Brice discovered traces of mould and seepage on the floor of his motorhome!
Distraught, our victim immediately went to a garage to find out the extent of the damage. There was no appeal: the motorhome was eaten away by damp. The repairs cost €17,623, virtually the same amount Brice had spent to buy the motorhome.
The motorhome was actually worth ... €800!
Brice then contacted the first owner of the motorhome, who told him that he had sold it to the professional for €800. The scam is real.
The rest of this story you may be able to discover on your television screens, as our victim has decided to call on Julien Courbet to help him solve the case on his famous programme "ça peut vous arriver".
