Clinique Products: How to Spot a Counterfeit?

Since 1968, the Clinique brand has offered a wide range of skin care products, make-up, fragrances and other cosmetics that are renowned for their effectiveness. The brand cares for the skin of each of its customers with clinically proven and tested products, designed and manufactured by dermatologists. By offering products that are simple, effective and safe, with visible results for the skin, the brand has succeeded in gaining a strong foothold in the skincare and beauty market. In view of its success, the brand is constantly having to contend with the counterfeiting of its various Clinique products. Unfortunately, if you're not a connoisseur, you can easily be taken in by the tempting offers on the brand's copied products. In this article, we reveal some effective tips that will help you identify genuine Clinique products and differentiate them from counterfeit products.

The logo

Check that the brand name and logo appear on every Clinique product. It must be identifiable and present on the front of the bottle. A large, thick, capital C should be at the top. The letter C almost closes in on itself. Then a large thin line appears just below it with the brand name 'Clinique', framed by a second line. The letters in the name "Clinique" should be serifed. If, when you purchased Clinique products, you did not have these various elements, you should contact us. If the brand name is missing, or the letters are larger, or without serifs, you are probably dealing with a counterfeit.

Visual of Clinique products

All the brand's products have the logo, the big C just above it, and the product name too. The product name must be in French and English. If no description is available or only one language is listed, beware and check the authenticity of your products.

Here is an example of a Clinique product :

Composition

Check the ingredients in your product. All Clinique formulas are full of active ingredients that contain no allergens, no irritants, no parabens, no phthalates, no fragrance. On the small label at the back of your product, these elements are identifiable, so you're dealing with a counterfeit.

The main ingredients are : Vitamin C, salicylic acid, retinol, peptides, lactobacillus probiotic ferment, hyaluronic acid, Gyokuro green tea, Cica, alpha hydroxy acids and aloe water.

Labelling

Pay particular attention to the labelling of the Clinique product you wish to purchase. You'll find detailed information on the label about the ingredients, warnings and instructions for use.

Look carefully at the small print on the label. Counterfeiters are notorious for making a multitude of spelling mistakes. If several of these are visible on the product, you may begin to doubt its authenticity.

The barcode

You can analyse the barcodes or batch numbers on your Clinique product. These are a clue that should not be taken lightly to confirm its authenticity.

Barcodes must be present on every Clinique product. They must indicate the origin. Replica factories tend to opt for barcodes or batch numbers that don't correspond to anything.
