GHD hair dryers: How can you spot a counterfeit?
Good Hair Day, an English brand created in 2001, specialises in top-of-the-range professional hairdressing. The brand launched in France in 2007, and in just 10 years has become a benchmark in the world of hairdressing. Before the brand was launched, the only way to access its products was to visit a hairdressing salon. The brand also owes its success above all to the performance of its products. In fact, the brand has been able to innovate and create while always keeping as its number 1 desire to meet the expectations and needs of its customers. GHD has made it easy for anyone who wants to straighten their hair to do so, while taking care of it at the same time. Following this success, the brand launched its brand new hairdryer, which was a big hit. Given the success of this product, some clever people have tried to reproduce Good Hair Day products to make a profit off the brand. However, there are ways to spot a fake GHD hairdryer from a real GHD hairdryer. In this article, we give you some of them.
The logo
The grip of the handle should be thinner at the top on a genuine brand product. Replica factories tend to opt for a much thicker handle that is much less practical for the hand. The brand logo should appear on the top right-hand side of the product. It should also appear on the small circle in the centre of the fan. The brand logo is very special and recognisable from a counterfeit. It is made up of several small dots.
You can see it in the photo below:
On counterfeits, this tends not to be visible, or even non-existent. What's more, the brand logo is never printed on an imitation, so check that these elements are visible.
The drying nozzle
There's another thing to look out for. The GHD drying nozzle is very thin and very long. Replica factories usually opt for a much thicker and shorter nozzle. There's also a difference in the way the air is propelled: with the genuine GHD hairdryer, the air is propelled horizontally, whereas with the imitation, it's more vertical because the nozzle is thicker. Finally, the colour of the nozzle should always be black. There are several colours available for this product, whether pink, blue, black, white or orange, the colour of the nozzle never changes.
Here's an overview:
The power cord
Take a close look at the power cord and, more specifically, its shape. This part is often badly forged by crooks.
As you can see from the image below, the cord on a fake GHD hairdryer is more curved than a genuine GHD product. You should also see slight lines anchored at the beginning of the cord, on a real product. In addition, there is a small black tab attached to a small button in the colour of the product. This little tab holds the product in place. If you don't see this feature on your machine, be sure to check its authenticity.

The buttons
Finally, check the buttons on your product. There should be 2, one below the other. The first should be red and the second black. There should be no written numbers on these buttons. On counterfeits, numbers are written on them, and it is thanks to these elements that we identify a genuine product from an imitation.
Here's what the buttons on your GHD hairdryer should look like:
