Olaplex shampoos: How can you spot a counterfeit?
Looking for a hair care product that restores vitality and shine to your hair? Olaplex, the most searched-for hair care brand on Google in 2022, has managed to maintain its number 1 position in the hair care market. The brand has managed to stand out thanks to its technology, which has won over a large number of hair salons before winning over the general public. The famous products in the range have a single ingredient: bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate. A name that's hard to pronounce, but the reason for its success. When Olaplex launched its range of hair shampoos, it attracted the interest of counterfeiters, who were quick to imitate the brand's products. These products are often poorly made. However, if you're not a connoisseur, you can easily be taken in by the tempting offers of the brand's copied products. In this article, we reveal some tips that will help you identify genuine Olaplex shampoos and differentiate them from counterfeit products.
The logo
First of all, analyse the brand logo, which must be present on all Olaplex shampoo packaging, sample bottles, etc. The name Olaplex should be spelt out very clearly, in capitals, with the letters spaced fairly far apart. There should be no serifs on the logo. If your shampoo has a logo with the brand name in bold, the letters are very close together or the font is serif (with small continuous lines at the beginning and end of the letters), then beware. You're probably looking at a counterfeit Olaplex.
Bottle labels
To spot counterfeit Olaplex shampoos, you need to inspect the labels on the bottles. The words "PATENTED TECHNOLOGY - OLAPLEX.COM" should appear on each bottle, along with the brand name, the shampoo number, the edition and the capacity.
Here's an example of the label "N°4 BOND MAINTENANCE SHAMPOO, REPAIRS, STRENGTENS & HYDRATES ALL HAIR TYPES".
In addition to the name of the shampoo, the last letter must also contain the word "TM" in very small type. If your product does not have all this information, or if some elements are missing, it is important to check the authenticity of your Olaplex care product.

Authenticity QR Code
The brand's products have often been heavily imitated, and to avoid this the brand has introduced a system to guarantee the authenticity of each of its products. Each bottle of shampoo has a QR code at the bottom of the back. If you notice that a QR code is missing, torn or tampered with in any way, you are dealing with a counterfeit.
Here's what the QR code should look like and where it should be located.
Capacity
Branded shampoos contain information that counterfeit products do not. Brand-name products have the ingredients and contents shown on the label on the shampoo. The capacity must be specified on the front of the label. On the back of the product, on the back label, you'll find instructions for use and a list of ingredients. The barcode is also included. All products are made without any mineral oils or silicones. If you find harmful ingredients such as silicone or mineral oils on your purchase, then it's quite possible that it's a counterfeit. If you've already made your purchase and the product has already been used, check the condition of your hair. If any negative effects appear, such as severe dryness, broken hair or a slight change in colour, it's best to stop using the product.
